Moto-union
On a murky Sunday morning, I found the pretty route to Ardingly made more so by the
autumn colours to the Moto union show, now in its second year it is a celebration
of Japanese and Italian motorcycles but a bit more than that it’s a celebration of
modern classics and came about by a few friends wanting to show the new r style of
bikes.
Soon parked up I was free to wander, or at least hobble as I was not in the best
of ways to peruse the incoming bikes and the show.
As ever at such an event those on the field were as interesting and ranged from mini
bikes to a Benelli 750 Seca via rat bikes and all sorts of modern bikes.
The main show hall had what some call butchered classics, but we just used to call
street customs and lots of modern classics. In fact it was almost like seeing a lineup
of bikes I have owned including a lovely GPZ550. And a great celebration of the Honda
4001/4 which I always wanted, but went down the super dream route, as had all the
luggage I wanted
I was particularly drawn to the Honda/Guzzi hybrid who would ever thought that was
a thing.
There were other new bikes from one of the sponsors Alf’s, and some great customs
from Redmax, who turn out some great bikes.
The other shed had food stalls, who were doing good business, but seemed a little
over whelmed by numbers, I had to try the doughnuts, I’m sure that’s a health breakfast,
while serenaded by Jazz, which may be a fist at any bike do.
There were also some off road stands, some cool traders and lots of teams promoting
safety which is always worthwhile.
A girl was doing stunts, but the location didn’t really lend itself to that with
an L shape arena
There were some race bikes too, sorry missed photo graphing them as was side tracked
and chatting.
The Dyno truck seemed to be doing good business with new and old being tested.
Feeling done in I had a slow wander back before leaving so sorry I don’t know who
won.
A good day, only niggles I heard were many people had only just heard of the event
day before of that day.
I think a decent flier would help that can be shared across some club sites and other
forums and media.
Next year its October 11 and more details can be found on their website
Two albums of photos onsite and the show and a short video clip
